Bizcover IndoMalay 2012 was a 60-member strong delegation led by Mr. V. Neethi Mohan – Chairman of YES and Former President of Tamilnadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Mr. K. Pounraj coordinated the delegation which successfully visited Indonesia and Malaysia. This was the 3rd YES international delegation after China & Hong Kong (2006) and Sri Lanka (2010).
The delegates, aged between 25 and 40, headed various SMEs. In Indonesia, meetings were held with 100 members from KADIN (the prime Chamber of Commerce) and the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Indonesia. A buyer-seller meet at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, on 24 January 2012 concluded business worth $1.5 million. Special addresses were delivered by His Excellency Shri Biren Nanda (Ambassador of India to Indonesia), Mr. Suryo Bambang Sulisto (Chairman, KADIN), and the Secretary General of Young Entrepreneurs Association of Indonesia.
A dinner meet hosted by Mr. Raja Sapta Oktohari, CEO of Lion Air, provided additional networking opportunities. Delegates also visited PT Indorama Synthetics Tbk in Bandung to learn about large-scale polymerization and textile production.
In Malaysia, the Kuala Lumpur Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KLSICCI) hosted the delegation at the Royal Selangor Club on 27 January 2012. The meeting was officiated by Dr. Dato Seri Subramaniam (Minister for Human Resources, Malaysia) and Mr. Vijay K. Gokhale (Indian High Commissioner to Malaysia). Presentations by ECERDC (East Coast Economic Region Development Council) invited Indian investments into Malaysia.
The delegation gained valuable insights on international trade and strengthened India–Malaysia–Indonesia business relationships.
